In 1985, local historian, Peter Kingsford wrote about what he called the 'three Gs' of North Mymms - men he described as the "forgotten worthies" who he felt deserved a mention in the local history archives.

They were schoolmaster William George Goulburn (1800-1889), schoolmaster, builder and businessman John E Gray (1831-1905), and labour turned building contractor William Groom (1823-1901).

Short accounts of their lives were published in the December 1985 issue of the Chancellor’s Community Newsletter, reproduced here with permission of the publisher. Click on the image below for a larger version.
